Skewed Perception

When am I going to learn? When am I going to learn that my projections and presets of life, never happen the way I imagined them to be.  Not that they still aren't as amazing, wonderful and simple... just never the way I had them mentally visualized in my head. For example... being pregnant didn't go as I always had thought, and the day my sweet little boy came into this world was not when I had planned, so why I even dared imagine what life would be like as a mother still stumps me. Don't misunderstand me, I anticipated the tiredness, the monotonous tasks, the recovery, the body never being the same, I also anticipated the joy and happiness of sucking in every moment of Jaks life. However, I just saw it different.

I thought for sure by taking time off of work and being home all day with Jaks, I would have ample of time to do things such as blogging, reading, scrapbooking, deep cleaning.... you know... all the things that I have put off for YEARS, because I was never home long enough but to sleep. Well, as most of you already knew and know, how wrong I was.  I didn't realize my time allotment would leave me choosing between a shower or food for the day. However, I am going crazy, the last 7 weeks of my life have been the most precious and amazing weeks ever. So many milestone events have transpired and I will be heartbroken if I don't record what has happen. THis weekend I have made a commitment to catch up on my blogging, no matter if I have to skip out on sleep. However, there will be an ample amount of post, and for the next two days I'm going to live in my own fantasy and pretend I was on the ball and posted each entry on the day the event actually happened. So If everyone else can pretend with me, that would be awesome.

Here's to a weekend of catching up! Wish me luck!

I've Fallen in Love...

To be honest, I could write an entire novel about the love and overwhelming amount of gratitude I have felt this last week. But.... not even words could express the experience it has been to have this sweet little boy in our home. He is just perfect! I honestly fall in love every time I see him, it's amazing how something so little can take your breathe away, over and over again. I'm so excited to see what lies ahead of us and the journey that our new family will have with each other. For now... I am soaking in every moment I can, cause I already get choked up and emotional just thinking about him growing up. I promise I will have more details and pictures of our new adventures together, but here is a glimse of the fun I'm already having with this little boy. With a grandma in the photography business and a mom who is obsessed with graphic design and photography, this poor little guy has no choice, but to love the camera. :)

These first three pictures were taken just 20 hours after he was born. My mom snuck in the studio lights and the camera after visiting hours. It was quite comical. We had our own little photo shoot in my tiny hospital room, let's just say we had quite a few nurses peaking in to see what all the fun was about.

And these were taken just six days after he was born. Wes and I have just loved him in his little white onesies, and i love the all white look. There just something about it that portrays the little piece of heaven that these newborns bring with them.

And of course we had to have a little fun with one of the new props that we bought. I say "one" because unfortunately I have had too much fun buying things to take pictures of Jaks in. But here is the little pea pod that we got.... He was a trooper!

Still Waiting...

So, I have to repent. I'm not sure how I got completely wrapped up in the idea that this little guy was coming early, maybe it was the fact that I was dilated to a four, 60% effaced, and my membranes were stripped.... I don't know.... Nevertheless, I have humbly come back to reality and of course accepted the fact that he is MY child, so why would he come early? I mean that would be completely uncharacteristic of both of us... and I have accepted the fact that he may not even come on time... cause that would also be uncharacteristic of us. I also learned that my Grandma (who I seem to patterned a lot after) never went into hard labor. She would get to the hospital dilated to a 7 or 8 and they would have to break her water for her to have hard contractions... so, this should be an interesting week.... I'll keep you posted.

Until then... I guess I'll keep myself occupied with work and of course my new obsession. It seems to be the only thing keeping me sane right now.

I've Already Lost Control....

I'm dilated to a four, 60% effaced, my membranes have been stripped, I've walked a total of 7 miles in three days.... and still.... No Baby. I'm not sure why I was SO convinced that this little one would already be here, but apparently he is too much like his father. I blame Wes, because of course... I'm not stubborn at all. ;) Ok, who are we kidding, this sweet child of ours has no chance, but to be stubborn, and it is already shown. Wes and I are so anxious and have been pleading with our little boy to come and play with us, but I'm afraid he is going to do it on his time, when he wants. So, until then... I guess I will start learning to patiently wait.

The one good thing about my little boy staying longer in his hut, is that I've had a little extra spare time. Not much, but enough that I got a chance to venture in my new hobby. Yes... that's right, another hobby. Not that I needed something else to occupy my time, but it's something that I have quickly become addicted too. This last month I have realized that I have spent 5 years in graphic design, but have yet utilized it for my personal benefit. And with this little boy coming, I have been so excited and have been dreaming of all the things that I could make, the pictures I would take and the Scrapbooks I would create.

Growing up... I loved to Scrapbook. However, I was really more a scrapbook supply buyer, because whenever I sat down to actually scrapbook, my OCD Meticulous Characteristics would doom me and two hours would go buy before I had even one page finished. Needless to say...since then I have never really kept a good scrapbook or personal history of anything. However, my new digital obsession has changed that. And, I have recently been blessed with an awesome opportunity. Wes' cousin has been involved with Digital Scrapbooking for years and is now opening her own Digital Scrapbooking Company. The best part is... she asked me to be a designer for her site. It's just recently opened and I've only designed a few products, but I can already tell you that I'm obsessed. I LOVE IT! I'm still working out a few kinks, but here is sample of what I have created so far.
